Question New Hamster Occasional light?

Just got a male Winter White (Fluffy) and put it in my 40 gallon breeder. Had a few gerbils in the 70s but other than that it's been a while.

Question:
In regards to light and cage location....Best human place in the house is where it is now by a completely draped window but at times appox 1 inch of a beam of sunlight might sneak through during the daytime. I know keep them out of sunlight and that certainly seems reasonable but to what extreme are we talking here if it's got several place to hide? I could go to more extreme measures of taping the drapes down or something else if needed.

That sounds fine, as long as it's only a little sun shining in for a short while during the day & not too much all day then it shouldn't be a problem.Temperature can fluctuate a fair bit by windows so just check it stays at a reasonable level for him all the time.
