Photo Month Thread - February 2018

Hello everyone!
This month I'd like to welcome you to spend time with the Vectis hamily (plus honourary hamsters).

The hamster room is rather full at the moment after going to Houten last April and still having quite a few of the 2017 non-keeper pups here (though to be fair, they're probably going to end up staying at this rate!)

Today some of the Syrians wanted to say hi. Dark grey is my focus, so the colours I have all link in to that: cinnamon, golden, yellow, smoke pearl and, of course, dark grey.

Today I seem to have an unexpected day off (as I was informed when I went in to work and they all looked surprised that I was back from my leave already - oops). So I've had a chance to pootle round the hamster room and take some pictures in the daylight for you.

This is the organisational hub of the hamster room. The clipboard holds The List - every hamster is listed along with last show, last spot on and other relevant notes. I used to only do it when the pet sitters were visiting, but decided it was worthwhile in case of an emergency as I know what's what in my hamster room but no-one else does! I love whiteboards and lists - the hamsters have a little section on my fridge next to my dog training whiteboard, but this is their main board.
The drawers hold substrate for show pens as well as wet dog food, treats and health/quarantine items like spot on, plastic aprons and syringes. A new food bin is arriving today so the bin with the shower cap on will be able to retire!

On the other side of the hamster room are the shelves with stuff for cleaning out, spare toys, spare water bottles and unmixed food. The playbox is currently housing the spare substrate!

And my collection of hamster books, previous copies of the journal and craft stuff. Since my last photo thread I've got new plastic boxes for storing all the crafty bits to make it easier to clean (and to stop escaped hamsters and duprasi from eating the crafty bits!)

Here are some of my precious old hamster books. I love re-reading them - it's interesting to see how hamsters were fed in the post war years when rationing was still in place.

Wonderful start to the month! The dark grey and Smoke Pearl colours are gorgeous, in particular but all the hammies are very impressive Always very impressed by your hamster room and organisation. It inspired me to get one of those drawer bins - which is now full with untidy stuff on top again!

A lovely start to the month! I'm looking forward to seeing all your cute hamsters and the doops this month! I love the colouring of Runic as well as Cufic.
So cute of Limey to give us a wave with his 3 paws - he looks like he is enjoying his cuddle!
Your hamster room looks amazing and very nicely organised. Those old books must be interesting to read as well as a good way to see how hamster care has advanced.
