Happy New Year everybody! Thousands of hamsterous greetings from Montréal!

I feel so honoured to have the first chance to post in year 2018 for my beloved hamsters! Due to the time delay, my family and I were still celebrating new year a day ago and I could only spare time for posting now.

Here is the new year firework in old Montreal(since it is freezing-cold: -40 celsius, only one picture is taken)

I bought my Myachick back home around 8.5 months ago and he was around 4-5 weeks. He is a natural sleeper and he could literally fall into sleep anywhere warm. That is why I have taken so many pictures and videos of my Myachick when he was sleeping on my hand, in my sweater, on the couch, or at home, etc. I would take it as the great trust from his side. When he was young, he could fall asleep while eating. How adorable is he! Sadly, I wish I could do the same for Dumpling since they are brothers and I only bought Myachick back the first time. I suppose the earlier hamsters leave pet stores, the easier they could bound with owners since they are taken much care of when they are with me. Once childhood has past and the hamsternality has formed, it is hard to make a very cautious hamster to trust you.

Last thread was all about Myachick and now it is Dumpling's turn. As I have mentioned before, Dumpling was adopted two 1 month and half later than Myachick was bought. Due to stressful environment in pet store, Dumpling's personality was formed to be cautious and defensive.

An obvious difference about trust between Myachick and Dumpling is: When Myachick is standing on me, his paws are flat and his nails barely touch my skin. However, Dumpling's paws are held tightly-curved and his nails are scratching against my skin. That is why, I feel a bit guilty towards Dumpling that I should have taken him home the same time with Myachick, so he could have spent a better time in his childhood. And he will be as relax as Myachick right now.

Nevertheless, Dumpling is a very mild little hammie and he is always happy to be kissed by me. As long as he loves to clean himself next to me, I could automatically interpret it as his cautious-trust.
