Newt getting a housemate
A little Robo is coming to our house soon (within the next week) I made the mistake of browsing preloved a few weeks ago. Have wanted a robo for a while now. And there is an accidental litter not far from us that need homes. The owner had a pair of supposed boys for almost a year and then found the litter. I've been in email contact with them regularly regarding sexing and separating them and am having one of the boys. So needed a new cage. I have the top half of the Savic Mickey 2XL but no base and decided would feel happier with a tank for a robo. I also have the Skyline Ted which I got as Charlie's holiday cage - it's about the same size as a Duna Multy and was tempted to use it, but decided I wouldn't be able to set it up how I wanted without filling it up too much and it would probably end up being a starter cage.
So I have got a Kerry Terrarium, which arrived today. If it needs upgrading later for something bigger I can sell it on again. Am going to have the wheel above substrate level to maximise floorspace. Really wanted the 100cm Marrakesch and a pair of robos but OH said no - lol.
I have had fun working out the layout
The Kerry arrived in an ENORMOUS box! Will add some photos when it's set up. Here's a photo of the enormous box. Excuse all the junk in the background - room currently used for junk lol. I have no idea why those photos came out sideways!

Re: Newt getting a housemate
Well of course I wish it was 20cm longer lol. It doesn't look that big to me, but I'm used to a 100cm cage. The floorspace is very similar to my Savic Mickey 2XL overall. The height is taller than a Duna Multy so allows for deeper substrate. At the moment I am having difficulty remembering that Robos are tiny and don't need huge toys like Syrians!

Re: Newt getting a housemate
Haha your Syrians going to look like a giant in comparison now.
I’m sure your new guy will love his cage.
I love Syrians, they’re definitely my favourite hamster species, but I feel like they make a lot more toys for dwarfs and robos so the cages always end up looking so much cuter I think.
Can’t wait to see it all set up and of course your new arrival
I’m getting the new pet jeaslousy!!

Re: Newt getting a housemate
I'm looking forward to seeing photos of your little guy. He's going to seem tiny compared to the Syrians you're used to.

Thank you Fluffagrams Yes he is going to seem tiny - I can't imagine. I nearly spilled the beans on your new robo thread. The wait is killing me lol. But want to make sure everything is ready.

Re: Newt getting a housemate
Great news! I know you've wanted a robo for a while now so I'm really pleased to hear one will be coming home with you soon, hope the times flies by while you wait!
The Kerry does look small when you're used to bigger cages but I'm sure you'll be able to make a really nice home for your little one in there.

Oh how exciting. A little brother for Newtie. I’m sure the tank will look lovely (and symmetrical lol).
You can now buy/use the toys etc that are too small Syrians, but look nice.

I knew you wouldn't be able to resist. Having spoken about it and how I so want a dwarf ham myself. I so can't wait to meet your new addition.

Re: Newt getting a housemate
Congrats, Serendipity! I'm so thrilled for you that your dream of getting a robo is now a reality! The little one will be so lucky to have you as his mum. I can't wait to see his pic and get to know this little one when he settles in more. Do you already have a name picked out for him or are you going to wait until you know his character more? I know you can hardly wait for the the time to fly by and cuddle with your newest hamily member. Newt will be a giant compared to his little one. I'm sure your robo will thoroughly enjoy his new cage and all the wonderful toys you buy for him, too. Congrats, again!!!
