Thank you ...

... Ruth Edwards, I still get sneezy around all animals that eat hay - although it not as bad as how I used to be. When I was younger and soon as I walked into p@h the smell of the hay used to make me sneeze but now it doesn’t bother me as much. Although I am allergic to outdoor cats (and horses a little) they give me a rash up my arms if I touch them and make me sneeze but indoor cats I’m completely fine with. Luckily I’m not allergic to hamsters!

... cypher, It was always so sweet when Cotton sat by the cage bars -sometimes she would even place one paw on the bars and look at me pleading look to come out -which obviously I couldn’t say no to! It was also so lovely watching and listening to Cotton cracking open her monkey nut - that sound is just so wonderful to hear! The only one on my hamsters who never mastered opening a monkey nut was Sherbet!

... Serendipity7000. I agree I do think one reason for pairs to fall out is they have such different personalities which aren’t compatible with one another - and from my experience I noticed that they both preferred living on their own especially as Caramel became more tame and Honey didn’t need to share her wheel or food.
Even though all of my Syrians have had white feet I think Cotton’s colour made her white feet stand out more than my other girls - which I think this is what made them even more adorable as it looked like she had socks on!
I’m so pleased too that I not allergic to hamsters to - like you say it so nice being able to cuddles and interact with them without getting itchy or sneezy.

Aww, Cotton eating his monkey nut is just too precious. He looked like a total pro, too! I absolutely love his coloring and the gorgeous sheen, too. Him loving, anticipation, pleading look at the cage door was so sweet. I could just feel the love that he had for you being expressed so vividly in his expressive eyes. What a loving bond the two of you shared - cuddles are the greatest!!!! Awesome pics of your sweetheart, SKB!

Lovely pics of Cotton and the monkey nut! Mocho tended to pouch his whole but hearing it being cracked open inside the house told a story. Great that you could see the demolition taking place!

Thank You dreamtree1234 and Coco61. We did have a very special bond and she was such a sweet girl.
Most of my girls were like Mocho – pouching the monkey nut and cracking it open somewhere private - although it still is a great sound to listen to.

8th - Cookie

On the 14th August 2011, I welcomed home my fluffy Cookie – she was my very first longhaired syrian (her fur wasn’t as impressive as that of males) but she had her tufty pieces of fur behind her ears, on her hips and by her tail.

Cookie was a confident and friendly natured syrian and it she quickly became tame and enjoyed having lots of cuddles. Cookie really enjoyed snuggling inside my hoodie.

Cookie loved food and was very food motivated – she would really enjoy rescuing treats that I had hidden for her inside cardboard tubes/or boxes.
I even tried Cookie with the treat balls designed for rabbits, to my amazement she quickly figured out that the treats fell out when she rolled the ball around. Cookie was also very cheeky to and she manage to manipulate my relative who was pet sitting to give her half the tub of her food (equivalent to half a bag) to her over two weeks, by emptying her food bowl and giving her best “I’m starving!” expression - she was very impressed of her mountain of food in the corner of her cage!

These are my favourite photos of Cookie ...

Cotton eating her monkey nut in the open where you could see it happening was awesome. I truly love her pictures cracking the shell open with such ease. She was such a thoughtful hamgal to let you visually share in the joy of her munching on her yummy nut.

Cookie was so cute and had absolutely gorgeous coloring, too. I love that she enjoyed cuddles, loved snuggling in your hoodie, and had a truly silly personality. It made me chuckle to read that she tricked your relative into believing that poor Cookie was "starving". What a comediham and trickster, too!!!! Even her expression on her face had a bit of mischief. I'm sure you had tons and tons of fun and adventures with her. I love it!!! My favorite pic of her is the bottom right corner; she looks like she has a big smile on her face and is contemplating what silliness she can get herself into next to thoroughly entertain you, lol.

Cookie was gorgeous. I love her little mischievous smile in the last picture. No wonder she was able to con your relative out of all that food. Haha.

Thank you dreamtree1234, cypher and SabreRose. Cookie was very cheeky and mischevious she even tried playing this trick on me but I don’t think she noticed I saw her running of stuffed pouches – but she was very clever trying it on someone else. I used to love when Cookie used to snuggle and sleep in my hoody/jumper – although if I decided to have a quick snack I soon felt her tickly whiskers against my cheek before she starting begging for a piece!

_____________

9th – Cookie (continued)

Cookie had eyes bigger than her pouches and would often stuff her checks full – it was a shock when I first saw her pouching a monkey nut as Cotton used to crack her open as soon as she got a monkey nut and pouch the peanuts instead. Cookie to was the first of my hamsters to every get whimzees – she loved them!

She thoroughly enjoyed coming out of her cage for playtimes every day I would get her out in the evening and she would be sat waiting for me by her cage door exactly on time. However for any reason I couldn’t get her out on time, Cookie would get very grumpy with me for being late – so she would turn her back on me then ignore me – she even refused treats and fresh veg bribery. But she couldn’t remain grumpy for long and quickly forgave me.

I really enjoyed taking photos of Cookie she always like to pose for the camera – unfortunately my camera wasn’t very good so most of my photos aren’t the best quality but I’m grateful for the photo I have managed to take of her – as I didn’t take many photos Honey, Caramel and Cotton.
