The official name of my Danish Princess
Some of you will remember that the sweet little Chinese Hamster that Vectis brought back from Houten for me was awaiting her pedigree to find out what her official name was and in the meantime was given the name Daniela Krystiana.
Her pedigree has now come through and I can confirm that her official name is....
Kwo's Junco Vulcani (Kwo is her breeder)
Junco Vulcani is the scientific name for the Volcano Junco which is an American Sparrow native to the high mountains of Costa Rica and Panama. I was a little surprised at the name and am not 100% sure if I like it or not but this official name will be recorded on any Certificates of Merits that she may receive and on the pedigrees of any offspring. I have yet to decide if she will retain her 'pet' name or will have this changed to Juno so that it has similarities to her official name.

Re: The official name of my Danish Princess
Wow that's a bit of a mouthful! Very unique though, maybe keep Daniela as her "pet" name? A couple of mine have longer names on their pedigrees than wht I actually call them (entirely my own fault though as I chose the names). I imagine it's nice to finally have her ped though

Not quite what I expected, not that I'm sure what I did expect, it sounds a very serious name for such a pretty little girl though Juno is a very pretty name as is Daniela. Whatever you decide though she will still be a lovely girl

Re: The official name of my Danish Princess
I actually really like it - small but powerful! And Juno would work as a nickname

I'm not a fan of pedigree names ever since my pedigree Korat got its official name many years ago. Korats are a Thai breed and Harry Houdini was the name his breeder gave him , and i liked it. But the Cat Fancy people said his official name would be Hari Kari. Charming name for a Thai cat, or any cute furry creature come to that!
Anyway, before I so stupidly interrupted myself, I think your choice of name was lovely and you should always use it. Or the crown princess of Denmark is Mary.
