Re: Little Leo
They do sleep in the strangest places, so Leo sleeping on the wheel is him probably running on it for ages and then having a little nap.
Many pet shops only give wood shavings, a couple of toilet rolls.
He's still adjusting and he'll no doubt sleep in a few places before choosing one permanently. Does he have like a house?

Re: Little Leo
Leo is such a stunning colour..!
Ghost is now around 12 weeks old and he never stops running in his wheel once he bothers to get up that is..!

Well I've given him a house with bedding, but today's sleeping spot of choice is inside the food bowl after destroying (partially) a fabric hamster pouch I bought from Pets at Home and using the fluff from that.
Also, I should really ask in a separate thread but is it only the male syrian hamsters that develop scent glands on their hips? I'm asking because I'm still unsure if Leo is a boy or a girl despite the lady at my pets at home telling me he's a boy. I've had him in a clear plastic tub to try and see from below without stressing Leo out to see where the two holes are but the fur covers everything up so I can't see to well so I'm checking to see if there's other indicates of gender other than waiting and seeing if he develops anything.

Re: Little Leo
I would be very careful with the remains of that pouch Lizwig & remove it if you possibly can as it could be dangerous if ingested, they should only be allowed fabric items out of the cage until you're sure they aren't chewers.
Females do have the same scent glands but they aren't always as obvious as males I don't think.

Re: Little Leo
I would want to know asap on the sex. Just so I can pick out a proper name. But I'm sure you'll know soon, if he rolls over or sleeps again the plasic on his/her side. If the lady at the store said he was a he, I'd go with that, I was worried about Dakota being a female. The store said she was female but she looks male. But she is definitely female.
You could put him/her in a glass bowl and hold the bowl over your head and look underneath. That might be worth a try xx

Re: Little Leo
Boys are usually pretty obviously boys ... all mine have really quite impressive proof of their maleness!
