Re: Meet James
I will do that tonight and see if it has moved, he has a rat sized trixie wheel. Same one Yummy used.

Re: Meet James
Actually no it doesn't its rather quiet, for now anyway. I think once he gets bigger it will make more noise, it was a little noisy when Yummy ran on it.
All is well though he was in his wheel at about 10.30pm for an hour, he went back to sleep after that. I put some bedding on top of his wheel at 3.33am since I was up still couldn't sleep, its not on the wheel anymore when I got up this morning so he must have got up again at some point.

Re: Meet James
That sounds positive then
Maybe he's still a little nervous & will come out more as when you're around as he gains confidence.

Re: Meet James
Just reading through this thread nice that you adopted him through a breeder. I don't readily have access to a breeder where I live. He looks like he has lovely coloring, about the wheel, it can be tricky a little bit as once the substrate is on top of the wheel, all the hammy has to do it lean on the wheel and it will fall off making it look like he has been running on it. I caught my hammy doing this xx

Think that might be the case or its been less hot so he has decided to get up and have a run for a bit, sleeps then gets up again when we sleep.

She wasn't too far away for us to get to, there is another breeder about ten minutes away from that one in another town. I found both breeders through the Houten exchange facebook page, he is a golden satin I would have taken the long hair cinnamon satin but she wanted to keep that one for further handling since he was so jumpy.
Hahah that is pretty sneaky but James likes his wheel so I'm hoping he was up in the early hours of the morning after I went to bed. x

Re: Meet James
James can give me a rather hard nip now and then, or a more gentle nip when he doesn't nip so hard. Never drawn blood. I found once I put him back in to the cage, he goes and has a pee in the sand jar right after. I guess the nipping is to let me know he wants to pee, but he'll poop all over me with no restraint.
I have also found when he is out of the cage he is very sweet and easy to handle, if you let him wander a bit he tends to be very cautious. He enjoys sleeping, as you can see from the photos. James has currently has buried himself under the house, he went in from his corner instead of through the door. Suppose that's a win for the house? Lol
