You wouldn't expect those to be a problem but I guess he could be allergic, how is he now, any better?

I checked him last night when I got home from visiting friends, it was a lot less red and was more pink. Swelling seemed to have gone down too, I'll check again tonight to make sure he doesn't need to go back to the vet tomorrow.

Hope he is ok. Logic suggests it is an allergic reaction to the fruit - grapes have varying opinions by some people as to whether they are ok or not. Strawberries are a common allergen in humans so could be that. Interestingly, Charlie, our last Syrian shunned strawberries!

I wouldn't give either of those again - swelling in the mouth suggests a system allergic reaction and the second one could be much more serious.

If it doesn't improve I would think they would give him a short course of steroids. If that doesn't improve it then you know it's not an allergic reaction.

Good to hear James is improving, it may take a while for the swelling & redness to go completely but it sounds as though he's on the mend, hope he's all better soon.

Doesn't look any better today its gone back to being red and I found a small wound on his neck, like he has been clawing at himself or something. He is going back today.

Sorry to hear James's isn't better, he might've scratched it because it was itchy.
Hope all goes well at the vet later xx

James went back to the vet he got checked for mites and there was nothing, they are going to check for fungus I get results in five days. In the meantime he has had some strong point put on, the vet said he is obviously itchy due to the new wound.

Got my fingers crossed this works. Is it hot where you are? The heat will make him sweat and it'll probably irritate him and make him scratch.
