Whoops! I feel so bad!
I was cleaning Igor cage as the substrate was getting old and wasn't very nice anymore.
Thinking I knew where Igor was sleeping I left that area alone as he's a bit bitey so I didn't want him to wakeup and come at me!
He has those large bendy tunnels for Guinea pigs and he fills them up so I was shaking them out to get the soiled substrate out and I stuck my hand through to get out the blockage,
Then i move onto the second one and as I'm shaking it out plops a very confused bleary eyed Igor!
The poor thing had a rude awakening!
So then I had to try to finish up the clean out with him following me all over the cage! Which is what I was trying to avoid! Luckily he's getting better at not biting! So he didn't try to attack me at all! Just was interested in what I was doing!

Poor Igor and his undignified awakening! No wonder he felt he had to supervise you stealing all of his nice smelly stuff
I pop my hammies in a carrier or playbox when I'm cleaning them out as I've found some haven't liked seeing me take their precious things away (e.g. poos, old food, shredded/peed in cardboard tubes). This way they get to explore the playbox and I get to clean in peace!

Poor little Igor! He must not have been very happy with you. Glad to hear he wasn't too offended

Ohhh, poor guy. I can just imagine his little confused face. When I was picking up my hamster from her breeder, she was sleeping in a tube and the breeder had to shake her out of it, so I know exactly how they look in such situations.

Perhaps he was too sleepy to be bitey. Ivy was always easier to cuddle when she was sleepy then when she awoke fully she wanted to race about more .

Re: Whoops! I feel so bad!
I just thought I'd do a little spot cleaning!
Never even knew he had moved his den to the tubes!
He did look rather adorable all squinty eyed having just woke up

Whoops! Hamsters gonna hamster! He must have been quite perturbed... but nothing a few treats won't fix.
