Please HELP if you can!! :)
Hi there everyone! I recently just bought a new hamster last week shes a syrian and shes so small! I live in Canada and the only store that is near me is petsmart, but the thing is they rarely have anything to buy which is a shame. So i was wondering if anyone knew any good online links where i can buy my little one bunch of good stuff! It would mean the world to me if someone helped me out! i want to spoil her she deserves it!
Thanks so much!!!

What pet shops do you have?
I have also got hamster toys etc in garden centers. Maybe you could look in one, if there are any near where you live.

Re: Please HELP if you can!! :)
Are you looking for anything specific, toys, food, substrate etc?
I'm not sure about Canada but most countries you can get some quite good things from amazon.

Re: Please HELP if you can!! :)
Making things and using household items can be quite fun for them and creative too I think hamster supplies are a bit more limited in Canada and only know of Amazon and Petsmart.
For example I've used - a ceramic salt pig as a hide before. People use ceramic casserole dishes as sand baths. A ceramic mug on its side can also be a hide. Tissue boxes and old shoe boxes make good hides too, with a hole cut in. A shoebox makes a particularly good house if you cut the bottom out (so it's open onto the substrate underneath) and keep the lid as a lift off roof and a bit of a platform. Cut the hole in the front.
Ikea might be your best bet! There are lots of Ikea hacks, including platforms made from Knuff magazine racks and various ceramic items. Some people make things out of lolly sticks (popsicle sticks) and Elmer's school glue.
A glass angled cookie jar makes a good sand bath/toilet as well.
There might be some ideas here

These have been quite popular if your Syrian is small (but maybe wait a bit they can have growth spurts!)
Also do bear in mind that almost all toys sold for hamsters are far too small for Syrians. Anything with an entrance hole, the hole needs to be minimum 5 to 6cm diameter. Which is why syrian owners often use items intended for rats or make things. Rat tubes are a good size.

This is good

This is popular with some people (but like with all toys, check it carfully as there've been reports of sharp bits on hinges).

The best thing you can give them really is loads of substrate to dig in, loads of torn up plain white toilet paper to nest in, a decent sized house and a good wheel, plus a few toys. And if you only had one "toy" I would get something big like this cork tunnel - they are great - lots of texture, something to climb on and run through and fill up empty floorspace and give overhead cover so they feel more secure.
This is just an example and you may need to look in local reptile shops to find them as on Amazon.ca it's really expensive as imported.

This big stretchy extending tube is good (for in or out of cage time)

Re: Please HELP if you can!! :)
If you have a local carpet store go have a chat as the rolls of carpet normally come a super thick and strong cardboard tube that you could cut up and use for all sorts of Hammy Adventure toys............... The stores here in the UK just throw them out..
