Default My hamster looks greasy

My Male Syrian hamster has been looking kind of greasy today. I just had to cut part of his skirt because he had gotten aspen shavings tangled in it... i since switched to the carefresh paper bedding. He is about 12-13 weeks old and his bottom is dry and fluffy. The only part that is looking greasy is the top of his head and his back. I thought that it could have been from him sleeping burrowed in a corner all day but I'm not sure! I also think he is a long haired satin. I am a new hamster parent so I just want to make sure he is okay! Other than looking a little scruffy he seems to be fine!

It's most likely he's been scent marking, that can make them look a bit greasy sometimes.

Harry's been looking like a Brylcreem Boy these past couple of days, it must be that time of year for earnest scent-marking!

My previous male hamster Rob always looked very greasy round his scent glands on his hips.

It's most likely where he's been scenting Sometimes satin haired hamsters can look greasy too because they're so shiny, my satin Russian looks greasy when his fur's all ruffled up.
