Feeling under the weather and hamster in a strop!
I really think my princess pickles is in a terrible mood with me as for the last few days about 3 now I've had an awful cold and chesty cough so have been staying well away from her apart from feed etc tonight she actually turned her back on me instead of her normal welcome paw up greet!
How to you cope when you can't handle them? And is there any chance she will forget me? It been 4 days and she has destroyed her cage in revolt I think!
I hope tomorrow I will be better so I can handle her to at least get her out!

Re: Feeling under the weather and hamster in a strop!
I hope you feel better soon.
I have often wondered the same thing myself as I live on my own and if you are unwell it is a struggle to deal with a pet. I have had the odd day when I've just put her food and water in but didn't have the energy to take her out or do any cleaning. I once had very bad flu and could hardly get out of bed for 2 weeks but I didn't have pets then. I suppose you would have to get someone to do your hamster care in that situation. I expect your hamster will be fine and soon be your friend again. Sometimes it is all you can do to feed and water them.

Re: Feeling under the weather and hamster in a strop!
A hamster won't become "untame" in just three day. If you didn't handle them for 2 weeks+, I could see you losing a bit of progress. However, they tend to remember fairly well. I always feel guilty whenever I don't let my hams out, but I ensure my setup is suitable enough that they can live there happily without needing to leave their cage. She won't forget you, nor is she really revolting. She may just have pent up energy, or it could be completely coincidental. Until you're better, she'll be just fine
Feel better soon!
