Default Spicy food

So I often cook quite aromatic and spicy foods.
It's never really crossed my mind about how Lil might react since she's all the way upstairs.

I make a batch of homemade chilli sauce about every six months. This will be the first time making it since getting Lil.

It consists of boiling about 50 scotch bonnet peppers, which creates an extremely pungent smell that often makes me cough a lot and I assume it would be cruel on poor Lil.

Am I right in assuming this? Hams sense of smell is much more sensitive than us humans, right?

And rest assured, I can make it at a friend's pet free house instead.

With most spicy foods I wouldn't worry but with boiling all those chillis there will be a lot of volatile oils floating about in the air which could cause a bit of irritation, I would imagine if the door to the room she's in is closed & you have windows open where you're cooking it would clear fairly quickly but if you can make it elsewhere it might not be a bad idea.
It's making my eyes water just thinking about it lol!

Yeh, the vapours are intense!
I'll gift a friend a bottle of chilli sauce in exchange for use of their kitchen

I agree with Cypher, those volatile chilli oils ain't going to be fun for your hammy, though on a different note, Pip once ate some of my butter chicken that I had made for Mrs R and Myself and it had no ill effects on her..!
I used to love spicy foods but I can no longer eat it
