Talking a silly question...

i just cant resist asking this. what if we keep different types of hamsters together. for example: a syrian and a dwarf, a robo and a campbell, etc.

It's a very good question,as it provides room to learn and know what is absolutely never okay!Keeping hamsters of different species together is never acceptable,as it will not end well.Even keeping hamsters of the same species is incredibly difficult(and most often ends badly in some way).

This is especially important when you mention Syrians being kept with any hamster at all, since they're entirely solitary as a species and must never be kept with any other hamster.I know some pet stores have really messed up by doing these things, but it is never okay and it should never be done

Not a good idea. This would result in fighting with very likely fatal consequences. As it is, Syrians must be kept alone and if you do keep robos, chinese, campbells, WWs or hybrids in pairs then they must be from the same litter and have been raised together - even then, they often need to be separated

There is scholarly evidence that Campbells and robos cohabitate in the wild... however the wild is very different from domesticated settings. I would not house mixed species hamsters. Even then, pairs of social species like robos are risky and highly dependent on individual personalities.

You shouldn't put different species in the same cage as they would fight.

You could keep different species in separate cages. But the cages need keeping apart. The hamsters would have to have out of cage time away from each other to.
