Default Say Hello to Taco! :D

This is the video of first and second day for Taco in his new home!
It took me a whole day to decide his name lol. I had a long list of hamster names but ended up choosing something that was not even on the list lol xD!
He wasn't scared of the new environment at all, which was surprising! He enjoyed exploring his new house on the first day and he was not afraid of me at all ♥ This is my first time getting a baby hamster (I've been adopting only fully grown-ups), so I'm hoping that it's not hard to take care of him x3. I heard that there is always a chance that babies get wet-tail...! D; Besides that, I have high confidence that I can take care of him well

Ecotrition Snak Shaks are not safe unfortunately(in fact no Ecotrition product is really safe or healthy) It doesn't look like he has much substrate at all either, which is a very big problem. He's very cute though!

Taco is super cute! I love the video as well, it was very entertaining and nice to see his setup.

Some suggestions if I may
I'd fill the cage with some more bedding if at all possible. Lots of bedding is so fun! Syrians should have about 12 inches of bedding minimum, and will create tons of burrows all about in the cage. Plus, it's super fun (at least to me lol) to dump many bags of bedding into a hamster enclosure
Amity already gave you good advice regarding snak shaks, instead, swap them out for another treat toy like whimzees!
In regards to the wheel, Taco's back looks straight right now, but I personally would upgrade to at least a 10.5 inch once he's full grown, with a 12 inch being optimum. He was so cute running all about in his wheel!

Looking forward to hearing how he's settling in

I have a bigger wheel . My previous hamster had even bigger one but I had to get rid of it bc it makes so much sound lol. So that shouldn't be a problem!
Oh, and none of syrian hamsters I had liked chewing Snak Shaks. They use it only as a hideout and they don't want their hideout to be destroyed lol... I don't give it to any of my smaller hamsters tho because they chew up on everything in the cage lol x3. If sleeping in Snak Shaks harmful for hamsters, I would get rid of it!

I had to get rid of a box with full of beddings to dig in because my previous hamster failed at the potty training and peed in it instead of using the bathroom lol (and still dug into that filthy bedding D;!! Spot cleaning didn't help either to keep it clean all the time) . Taco started using the bathroom properly since the second day. I take him out constantly to let him play digging in another huge container when he's awake (I'm a night owl, so I always stay with him when he's not sleeping). I will put the box back into the cage when he finishes the potty training completely ★

Oh, i forgot to say thank you for all these advises !! I will take good care of him! I never knew that Snak Shaks are bad for hamsters because my Syrians never nibbled on them. Good thing I didn't give it to my smaller hamsters that chew on everything lol x3.

Most people just don't know how bad they are, mostly because they're unfortunately popular(which doesn't make them at all safe, not even to be slept in as keeping anything with harmful ingredients in the cage is just not worth the risk when there are so many other perfectly suitable hideout options).Plus, safer hideouts can even be less expensive!

Substrate doesn't necessarily need to be kept perfectly clean all the time.A lot of people overclean cages, and that is never a good thing. When you clean too often, you end up never having beneficial bacteria in the cage which means your hamster will never have a truly healthy immune system.Partial cleanings on a rare occasion(never with chemical cleaners,as these aren't safe even if they claim to be pet safe, but some homemade cleaners or very high quality with only safe ingredients cleaners can work although they should only be used in the event of a serious contagious illness rather than being used on a normal basis)are fine.

Keep in mind that the larger the cage and the deeper the substrate, the longer it ultimately lasts(some will debate this, but it's very accurate!).
