Re: The adventures of Key Lime and Tangerine!
Last night I thought the little booger (aka tangerine ) had escaped because I heard a ham chewing on something and the sound came from the middle of my bedroom. I knew it wasn't Key Lime because I had done a taming session with him an hour earlier and it's virtually impossible for him to escape with the latching wire mesh lid on top of his aquarium. I didn't think it would hurt to check to see if Tangerine was still in his cage- he sure sent me into a panic as I dug through his substrate and I couldn't find him!
Tangerine:
Last night mom told me I gave her a scare. I was just hiding and eating a sunflower seed when she just came over and dug through my burrow with her enormous paws! How rude! She kept asking where I was (how can I answer her- she doesn't speak hamster!). Then she discovered where I was hiding and told me to "never do that again." She said the same words whenever I escaped my tiny prison the night I was separated from my brother. I guess she thought I had decided to go out for a little frolic. Humans always get so worried whenever we find freedom from our inescapable houses- I wonder why? Anyways- I sensed some fear in her voice so I decided to cheer her up. I've always been scared of the small black box she always puts near my face that makes the clicky noise. But I've noticed that if she ever gets a good- what does she call it- picture? that she always cheers up if she's sad. So, I posed for her while the black box made the clicky noises. After that she seemed happier and rewarded me with some pumpkin seeds.

I know that feeling when you can't find them, so glad Tangerine hadn't escaped. I so wish I could speak hamster lol!

Tangerine you gave your mum quite the scare! Try not to escape too much alright?
Having a master escape artist myself (seriously, I have no idea how he gets out of all of his cages) I know that heart sinking feeling when you don't see them in their cage anymore..

Re: The adventures of Key Lime and Tangerine!
CMB- it sure was a relief to see Tangerine hadn't escaped! I didn't think he could but hey, what's the harm in checking? The night he escaped was a literal NIGHTMARE. It's so hard to catch a robo which isn't even tame!
Thin lizzy- I wish I could speak hamster too lol! Im getting better at reading their body language but it would be nice if I could talk to either one of them if I was having a bad day.
Drago- is Duncan a little escapee? It's crazy how they get out of some of the cages they're in! I guess it's probably easier for a Syrian but I'm sure if a robo tried hard they certainly could!
BorisPasha- Tangerine waves a paw and says thank you for the compliment!
Also, I thought I could add a little update on him in this post. Last night he took not one but two treats from my hand! And not only that but he was confident enough to crawl halfway onto my fingers to sniff me It's the first time he's done that since I've separated them, and maybe even the first time EVER! His confidence just came out of nowhere! It made my week to feel that little fuzzy paw on my finger

Thank you cypher It sure was a lovely moment whenever I felt those little whiskers tickling my hand. Two nights ago he ran from my hand whenever I tried to do a taming session and then he just made a complete turnaround! He was a little scared at first but I've noticed that when I talk to him he seems to let go of his tension.

Re: The adventures of Key Lime and Tangerine!
Haha glad Tangerine hadn't escaped. I had a similar moment with Quigley only the day after I got him. He had buried himself under the substrate and I literally couldn't see any sign that he was in there. I knew deep down he couldn't have escaped, but I had to check. Woke him up from a deep sleep when I dug around in the substrate and he looked very confused!!
Great that you are making progress with taming it is so rewarding when they start to trust you.
