Re: Thoughts??
Pip is allowed to roam freely in our Hallway as it is hamster proof, even so it is always under supervision and for no more than 20 mins.
Pip has also been outside in a playpen again supervised, oddly enough all she wanted to do after havinf an explore was eat grass and clover and then dig up the lawn....

Re: Thoughts??
My hamsters only go outside in carriers for travel. I wouldn't let them roam on the grass even in a playpen as I know my area has roundworm, lungworm and fluke - the poor wild hedgehog that I took to a rescue as it was too small to be out in winter died of a massive infestation of these pests. My hamsters aren't preventatively wormed so won't be interacting with the outside ground.

Re: Thoughts??
I have only let Eros have somewhat free but completely supervised indoor roaming time. I let her roam in a portion of the room where her bin cage is in, and I block off portions of the room so she can't escape. She loves this time tremendously, and I make sure that she has no access to any cords, furniture that she can get trapped underneath, or pesticide.
I never let Eros roam free or even in a playpen situation outside. This is due to the fact that my neighbors have many cats and large dogs. There are also lots of hawks that frequent my area. Thus, I am always concerned that she will become a tasty treat for them. Also, it gets extremely hot in my area, which is definitely not ideal for hammies to be outside for any length of time.
