Smile Grooming

When Wasabi gets better how often should I groom her? She's a long haired female Syrian.

Grooming isn't really necessary unless you wish to show your hamster or it's for health reasons. Hamsters do most of the grooming themselves, but you can groom her as often as you'd like! However, if you notice tangles in her fur/skirt or see that there's quite a bit of bedding stuck, then you may want to groom more than usual to get that out. Best wishes

Mushu has fairl long fur, although he is only 11 weeks old, but I find that picking out substrate caught in his fur every time I get him out and gently brushing him with a toothbrush every now and then works well. Whether you need to do more or less than this, will depend on how long your girl's fur is. Can you post a picture? Female long hairs shouldn't need too much attention because their fur doesn't grow as long as that of males.

My long haired girl doesn't need any grooming - since she's not a mail, she can manage her coat herself, it's not too much crazier than a males. When she was a bit younger, she would get bedding stuck in it sometimes, but that was easily removed.

Is wasabi actually a female? Her coat is awfully long for a female I would double check! She's absolutely adorable though

Aww she is a sweet girl. Really quite long hair in places, but by the looks of it you shouldnt need to groom her too much. Maybe twice at most if you notice tangles is reccommened in the hamsterlopeadia (my bible for hamster info!). Try to pick out any substrate in her coat whenever you can. If she struggles with lots of tangles, you might consider moving her onto a different substrate which doesn’t get stuck so easily. I am going to try my long haired baby boy on back 2 nature pellets I think.

Wasabi is a lovely girl with such an amazing, long coat. I would suggest grooming her whenever needed. I would use a toothbrush or a tiny comb which should do the trick.
