You've definitely not waited too long. It's easy for people who don't understand hamsters to assume that, but taming is not something that gets done overnight nor does it always get done in a matter of weeks or even a month.
Ok thanks amity. I guess I'm just upset that they are scared of me because I'm such a big animal lover and I want to play with them and pick them up and all that. I understand taming isn't a quick thing, I was just wondering why i haven't made any progress. I know you don't know my hamsters but how long do you think it would take for them to be less scared of me? Weeks? Months? It's fine if you don't know I was just wondering.

Also, am I doing the right taming method, or should I try something different?

I would think you're doing things right as long as you're taking things slow and steady. It's important to realize that robos are the least tame of all the species (again this is a stereotype, but does tend to be true) so taming them can be a struggle. This is often why robos aren't recommended for beginners as many become discouraged or simply don't have the patience for it. However, robos can become just as tame as any species with a lot of time and effort. Remember also that you may end up with a pair of "look don't touch" hamsters and that's perfectly okay too, but you must be able to understand and be satisfied with animals you can't interact with much. Don't lose hope just yet, keep working with them for several minutes daily and I assure you that you'll soon see some progress. Good luck

Don't be disheartened, two weeks really isn't very long at all & I do think it's even more important with a pair to go slowly as stressing them out by going to fast could lead to problems.
I think you're doing things right, lots of patience is all you need now!

Hey, don't worry. I remember my first hamster, Alfie. Granted, he was a Syrian, but he was terrified of people when we first got him. The most skittish little thing you ever saw! I didn't make any progress with him for probably a good 3 or 4 weeks and I was terrified he'd always be like that. Then, we discovered that he loved broccoli so much that he would sit on my hands to eat it and bam - overnight, things became a lot easier. Other hamsters owned by both me and my brother were easier to train initially, but none of them were ever as cuddly as Alfie ended up. What I'm saying, is don't give up hope now as a fortnight is not long at all. Keep trying and ninety nine times out of one hundred your efforts will pay off.

Ok thank you everybody Last night one of the hams (couldn't tell which one) came over and sniffed my hand and then stood up on it! I have renewed patience and I'm not going to give up no matter how long it takes. I understand all hamsters aren't cuddly, especially robos, my goal is to build trust between us so that the hamsters aren't so scared of me. They have mostly stopped fleeing when I put my hand in the cage and they are more comfortable to walk by my arm rather than cautiously avoiding it.

That's real progress
I know it seems hard sometimes with the more nervous ones but every positive little step gives you a boost & makes all the patience so worthwhile!

Question Re: How am I ever going to tame my robos?

Thank you everybody for the advice the hams will come and sniff my hand, but they won't take treats. I'm starting to think maybe they don't like the treats? I mainly use the Oxbow simple rewards banana treats (only a small piece though). They were eating them before but now they don't seem to take interest in them. I've tried millet too but they don't seem to want that either, though they will eat it if it is just in the cage. I've also tried picking out their favorite bits from their food mix to see if they want those but no luck. Any treats that you all recommend? I've heard fresh veggies are a good treat option and i may try those. I wanted to use pumpkin/sunflower seeds but both of those are in their food mix and they don't seem to want them when they are on my hand. I've heard some hams like mealworms but it'll be awhile before I go to the petstore to get some. So is it the treats that they don't like or do they just not feel comfortable with my hand?

It could be a combination of both, it has to be a really tasty reward if they're still a bit nervous & different hams have different favourites, I'm surprised they don't go for the sunflower seeds though.
You could try them with the mealworms when you get them, most robos will enjoy those & I find a tiny piece of nut, usually walnut or a pinenut is pretty much irresistible even to a shy ham!
