Re: What colour is he?
Male long haired hamsters can have extremely long fur! There's no guarantee of length with individual hamsters though.
As for maintenance,it shouldn't be difficult as long as you use a substrate that does not tangle in fur. That said, wood does tangle in fur, while Fitch and other paper substrates really don't!It wouldn't hurt to switch to Fitch regardless, being a cost effective superior substrate that is much safer than wood substrate with many benefits like never being capable of causing an allergic reaction(wood can, even if not immediately seen)

Looks like black eyes and cream with white at the bottom and back sides and a strip of cinnamon down the back. Mushu's really cute, where'd you get him? I don't think Mushu's hair is going to get much longer.

Re: What colour is he?
Think I will switch Mushu onto a paper or fitch substrate, because the woodchips are tangling in his fur already!

Thank you I think I am leaning towards a long haired cream too, because I know his siblings had cream on them. The weird thing is though that he still doesn’t quite look like other cream hamsters I have owned. Was wondering whether that is because he is satin as somwone else suggested.
I got him from Pets at Home! Was a bit leery of buying from there given all the horror stories but I couldn’t resist him.

Re: What colour is he?
Hi everyone. I had concluded that Mushu was a red eyed cream last time I asked... But now I am not so sure. His fur looks darker to me now and he has some white under his chin extending in a thin line down his chest. I thought cream hamsters were meant to be cream all over with no white.
Here is a photo of him from when he was really young, but the white white stripe is more visible because he was standing up:
You can also see the top of this line in these two more recent photos:
And just some other pictures to show that he is now darker:
Does anyone now think he might be a colour other than cream?

Re: What colour is he?
With all that black ticking I would say possible Cream carrying Melanistic Yellow and Satin to boot. Very pretty boy.

Re: What colour is he?
Nancy’s Hamsters, thank you. That is not a colour I have heard of before! Would it also be in keeping with the white line on his tummy? Now that you mention it, I did think he may have some ticking, but it was hard to tell whether or not that was just the satin effect. I don’t know if I’d say he has any black on him though - if the ticking is there it looks a lottle more brown to me. Or would the cream lighten it?

Re: What colour is he?
He'd not cream now we can see the pics of him with the adult coat and all that ticking.
I think he's likely possibly a yellow of ghost yellow. Sometimes they are a bit of a mix that are all showing colours from genes so it is hard to pin point a particular colour. He's lovely.

Re: What colour is he?
Ghost yellow? That sounds cool! I’ve tried looking on google images for pictures of the colours that you and Nancy mentioned, but there are so many different pictures that I don’t know which is the correct one. If you do have any images of these colours I would love to see them.
