I'm not really saying you're wrong or anything, but my hamster (who is a Syrian ) adores his sand bath- he can't live without it!!! Is my hamster just weird?

Does he Aww that's nice that he enjoys it. My gang have a good dig when it is clean then proceed to use it as the toilet!

Charlie hated sand He would make faces at it, and me, kick all the sand out and replace it with cosy substrate and turn it into a den. He tolerated sand in his potty but often covered it up with substrate.

Re: Have I forgotten anything?
Haha hamsters are funny how they are all different! My Syrian likes scraping in it but yes it ends up getting used as a toilet. Jopop what cage are you thinking of getting? Seeing as you have a few weeks to prepare you might want to have a look on a website called zooplus, they do really good sized cages for a good price compared to what's on offer in shops for the money.

Re: Have I forgotten anything?
Ummm am I just being a weirdo or is a wheel on the list?if it is I'm sorry but I read it over twice and it doesn't seem like it but in my opinion having a wheel is an absolute necessity to their home.since in the wild they run over miles at a time every night it is crucial to have one for Syrians I would start with an eight size and then an 11"

Wheel is mentioned in the first post and also here
'Ordered a Silent Runner last night so now every single thing we need is in place I think.'

Hi
Yup the wheel is here although hammie is still a baby so I won't be giving it to him for a few weeks yet.
Any other ideas of essentials send them my way guys. 5 days to go!!
