You can do or tear off about 12 sheets and let your ham do it. I would add a bit each day so he can build up a nest.

Also, you could do the tissue trick where you stuff some toilet tissue up your sleeves and leave for a couple of hours and then put in his cage, this gets him familiar with your scent.
