Just keep in mind that a bad beginning for an animal does not define their future. They're adaptable and can always grow even if not physically We see this quite often with many animals, for example with dogs in the case of a lot of unfortunate dogs used in dog fighting who can turn out the ideal family dog!
That sounds right. My brother and I once adopteda poor little hamster who had permanently splayed hind legs due to poor treatment. You’d have expected him to be a bundle of nerves around people, but he was so trusting and tame despite everything he had been through.

Thank you. The more I look at him, the fluffier he seems to get!

I have been thinking of names all night and I think I have decided on Mushu. What do you all think? It is after the dragon in Mulan. The one thing holding me back is that the meaning of Mushu in chinese is apparently: “a type of Mandarin Chinese dish that refers to any type of meat cooked with vegetables and wrapped in a thin crepe”!!!

If you like it go for it!

My hamster name is Blacky, I know that blacky is used commonly as a contemptuous term to refer to a black person and I couldn't care less, I think it is cute and he is black, so in my opinion it couldn't fit him better

Think I will lots of people seem to name their hamsters after English names for food, so I figure it isn't so very different. I have heard of many Muffins, Oreos, Cookies etc.

Mushu it is then! It’s great to have a name to call him by rather than just ‘little friend’. Also, Mushu would work for a girl too. The woman in the pet shop didn’t really check his gender properly (just glanced at the top of his bottom) so he may well turn out not to be a boy. Just so long as his isn’t carrying some surprise mini-Mushus that is fine by me, though.
