Re: 30 Days of April
I'm back!
I got back home at 11am today from my Houten adventure, and spent nearly 2 hours unloading everything and putting everyone into their quarantine cages. I have a dining room full of newbies now!
I set off from my home at 5pm on Saturday and stopped off to pick up my friend and her animals. It's about a 3 hour drive to Harwich where we got the overnight ferry to Hook of Holland. It set off at 11pm UK time and arrived at 8am Dutch time.

Thankfully it was only an hour drive to Houten from the ferry as I'd never driven on the wrong side of the road before.

(my friend took this picture - she was the passenger)
Still, we made it in one piece and got there at 9.15am. The show opened at 10am but this was the queue when we joined it - it got even longer by 10am and started to rain!

This was the rodent hall (I didn't get any pictures of the reptile hall as it was far too warm and busy):

And the hamster/rat/mouse judging area:

I picked up my pre-booked animals, exchanged the hamsters I'd taken and had a look round for any sales hamsters who caught my eye. It got really busy in the middle of the day and it was good to have a sit and think. The hamster show finished at about 4pm so we set off for the ferry again. I didn't take any hamsters to show myself this time.
We got to load onto the ferry shortly after 7pm (Dutch time) and it set off at 10pm. We landed back in the UK at 6.30am (UK time).

This was my little friend Indy who belonged to one of the Dutch hamster exhibitors. I didn't manage a clear photo as I spent too much time cuddling her!

And I was so very tempted by African pygmy dormice. I decided not to buy any as I hadn't researched how to care for them and thought it wasn't responsible to buy first and work out how to look after them later. Plus I bought plenty of new animals

I'll show you my newbies soon!

Re: 30 Days of April
It looks to have been a really amazing trip!
So much to see, love the frogs, I have a bit of a thing for frogs lol! & the little pygmy doormouse, I have a yearning for one of those too but probably wouldn't be able to give it the right care/environment.
Look forward to meeting the newbies.
