Default New cage nyooms!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, life's been hectic with rearranging my bedroom to fit Goose's new cage, a detolf! All to herself! I had to crop the picture weirdly so the site would let me upload it but she's certainly enjoying racing around as you can see. The substrate is hand cut up toilet paper, as with lots of work being done on the house I don't have storage space for Fitch... The lengths I go to for the fluffies. I've also made both of the hamsters some toys out of safe wood, as well as egg boxes. You can never go wrong with a good egg box, as zero's proving right now by sleeping in it. Zero's still in her mini Duna, but I'm sure I've mentioned that when I've tried her in larger, less enclosed cages she's far more skittish even after the settle in period. Ah well, it's up to her really.

The classic hammy blur in front of the camera lol! Glad to hear life's settled down a bit for you, and that you've been able to get a larger cage for your little one. Toilet paper can be an okay last resort bedding, but I'd really recommend purchasing something like carefresh or leaving Fitch out and throwing a blanket over it so it just looks like decor in the room Your ham would probably really appreciate the better burrowing substrate! Enjoy spending time with all your little ones, they sound lovely

She'll be getting much more substrate to burrow in as soon as I can make a lid for the cage. She's not much of a burrower but she'll like having the option.

Looks good! I'm sure she'll appreciate a bit of extra substrate for a big, cozy nest. I think with the amount of substrate needed for a Detolf, 10kg of Fitch wouldn't take up too much extra space. They do also make 1kg bales now, so that could be worth looking into. If you have any other pets, you can use Fitch for them as well. I use it for my guinea pigs and find it excellent.

I put a blanket over the 20kg bale and used it as a beanbag chair
