Hamster Habits, Quirks, Antics
My first hamster used to always put her dog biscuit in her water bowl. My second hamster covers her entire food bowl with Carefresh. What habits, quirks or antics do your hamster(s) have?

Hamsters are such personable little creatures! The biscuit in the water is absolutely hilarious. One of my hamsters, Duncan, has a thing where he must pouch ALL food before eating it. I'll offer him a cheerio, and he must first pouch it and then eat it. I'm curious to see everyone's answers

Khali absolutely hates it when i put the little wooden carrots back into the holes ( where they are meant to go) of her elevated feeding tray and she just has to remove them and drag them away. I think she has a love hate relationship with them haha

Titania will drag and kick her plastic golf ball (it looks like a ping pong ball but has grooves) to her hideaway before suddenly realizing it's there when she goes to bed and going completely ballistic kicking it away. Hehe...

Drago, Jennie & JLPrairie, I enjoyed reading your responses. Proof that these furry little creatures are entertaining & no two are alike.

Re: Hamster Habits, Quirks, Antics
My hamsters quirk, Heaven, is that she is so perfect IMO She gets up early to keep me company. She doesn't get her water bowl dirty even though its not on a shelf. All her treats end up in her food bowl where she cherishes everything in it. She doesn't stash anything except Whimzees or a rice pop to chew on in her nest. She is litter trained. She sleeps in the same nest every night. She sits in the same spot every night to groom herself or to just relax to pass the time. She loves being cuddled, she is so right for me I hope that I make her happy and give her a happy life back

Pickles loves to play but when she is ready to go back in she will tap the door with her cage in with her hands and then sit and wait looking at me! She had full run of our 'stairs area' for play time running up and down the passage way but as soon as she is ready she taps her door! Such funny little things

My hamster likes to bury her wheel to the point where it can't spin anymore Also, she takes all of her food into her hideout and poops in them! Lastly, she likes to sleep in her sand bath :3

Re: Hamster Habits, Quirks, Antics
My very first pair of RWW had a very strange habit. One of the cages in my complex is Rotastack with an upper floor round area. Soon after arrival I heard very strange rattling sound: it was one of them heaving the little metal ladder up and down until it got unhooked from the rim above. When done - just walk away. Later on, I would find both of them, on either side of the ladder, huffing and puffing, heaving it up and down until unhooked and had fallen down. Job done.. walk away for a rest.... At time, even if I had hooked it up again, they would promptly return and unhook it.... When they slept upstairs, they would also unhook it - to prevent anyone coming up?
