She looks lovely and you managed to arrange a good set up for her.

I think that you didn't mesh the top part. I know that you checked that it was hamster-proof on the bathtub, but I would be very careful! You never know how they are going to surprise you, mine escaped from his tank after two months of leaving it without a lid without having problems. I thought he couldn't do it but he find a way to do it by blocking the wheel and climbing it, reaching that way the top of the tank.

Looking forward to know more about Esme

Such a cutie!
Hamsters are very good at looking so innocent!

The mesh top is completely removable for easier access - I have read that a hamster's middle name can be Houdini I removed it for the photos, or you wouldn't have seen anything.

I think she's settling down OK. She's out and about during the late evening / night, but tends to pop back into her house whenever I go too near. No problem - I realise that it's normal behaviour for a 'newbie'. And last night she deigned to let me watch her run in her wheel, so we're making progress. (I've been reduced to going outside and watching her through the window!)

She loves the huge wooden wheel I got from Zooplus, and runs marathons in it. WHEN she finally feels comfortable having me near enough to take some pics, you'll see what I mean. She's eating well (I can hear her crunching away in her house and at the feed dish, and I'm sure she's grown - bt that might be my imagination.

Thanks for all the comments, peeps. I need to know that what I'm doing is right / wrong.

Felicity you're doing a fine job with Esmie. Sounds like she's adjusting to her new home.
