Question Question about tufty bits

Does anyone know why my hamster has two white tufts on her sides?

We have had Charlie for two weeks and we have never seen anything like this. Is it unusual?

The first photo shows Charlie and one of the tufts. The second one isn't a very good shot but it does show both the symmetrical tufts.

Thanks for your help!

They mark the spot where their scent glands are. Both sexes have them, but they're more prominent in males

Yes as mentioned it is the scent glands. It is more noticeable on a sable as the longer tufts are showing the cream undercolour over the dark top coat over that area The longer hairs help distribute the scent further over the hammy and into the air to spread their scent around as much as possible.

Definitely scent glands. My hamster has them too. We call him his little whisps. *lol*
