Update: Last night I got up at 4:00am & my sleepers in the bedroom were up. I went to feed them seeds but they were too nervous so I dropped the seeds on the bedding right where they were. Guess I'll keep on doing that till they get braver.

Awesome to hear they like the new food! I think it will just take time for them to become less skittish. How many hides/climbing objects do you have in your cages? With hams that are more skittish, filling most of their cage with things to hide in or under helps to boost their confidence!

It can be hard when you've had them some time & they know they can wait until it's dark & your not there before coming out.
I would just sit & talk to them in the dark for a while each evening or morning, keep doing that & maybe just leave some food or seeds before you go off & leave them again, they should begin to realise that it's safe to come out & that there's a reward in it.
It will take time & patience but if you keep at it & they begin to come out then you can stay & talk to them, then move on to putting your hand flat in the tank until they get used to that.
It has to be a slow, steady process, try to get into a routine they will come to recognise & stick with it.
Hopefully patience will pay off.

Drago, both of their tanks are wonderland for the hammies, couldn't be more adventurous for them. Angel is a tiny little robo in a 20 gal tank. Izzy has a 15 gal tank filled with all kinds of things. All my hamsters live in luxury really, given my space limitations that is.

Cypher that's a good plan, baby steps, I did go back to sleep after working with the hammys

My Syrian Princess Pickles usually comes out around 8 she then has a free run of the landing and maybe a quick ball session but she is rather sweet and tells me when she has had enough as she normally when roaming free sitting by the door to the room to her cage and taps it with her paw and looks at me. They have such personality when I fist got her I put the radio on in her room so she got used to hearing people talk maybe that might help she was so used to hearing voices that when she hears mine she began to pop out of her house and come and see me

Blacky wakes up at 1.30 am and he's around til 7 a.m or so, so it's almost impossible to interact with him if you don't wake him up. Thankfully if I call for him he usually comes out to have dinner and breakfast, but he's sooooo lazy that he spends all day sleeping, and he's not much around when you call for him. I have to stay up really late. It's sad but sometimes I play with him in the middle of the night when I see him awake when I go to take a wee. We have to accept that sometimes they are just like that

Jasper always seems to wake up between 4 and 5 (when he's been at my Mum's when I get back from school as I'm never there that early at my Dad's) because he's learnt he can get seeds then (clever boy ). He'll then go back to sleep until about 6-8pm when I can have some play time with him (play in the play pen, do photoshoots or just cuddle him). He knows that's when he'll be fed dinner. Jasper then goes back to sleep until 10-11, which is when he'll do his hamstery things. Sometimes I'll get him out then, otherwise I leave him to his own devices.
