Re: Robos - breeding issues nearby - advice needed
I think so too. I don't want to come across as too interfering, and they have put her back in with the girls now. I did suggest a bin could be a temporary cage for her in case they were reluctant to have to buy yet another cage. (I think they must have 3 cages already by now). I think it would be best to keep her separate too. If she does turn out to be a boy she could get the other 3 girls pregnant! (If that makes sense). So I just said if you're not 100% sure then maybe separate her and said they do ok on their own.
I kind of wish they had contacted me before putting her in with the other girls because I would have taken either the boy or the three girls possibly, but I'm not too keen on taking any just now with the current situation. There is a possibility that either the one that is now a girl could have a litter, or if not, the other three could have litters. I guess the boy is available assuming he is sexed ok. So it's a see what happens thing I think now. I wouldn't have thought the four "girls" would settle after one has been taken out for a week and put back again.

Re: Robos - breeding issues nearby - advice needed
I totally agree it's a wait & see what happens situation, it sounds as though one or more pregnancies are still a possibility & there's no guarantees they have sexed them correctly.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be just getting or passing on messages & not really knowing what's what for sure.

Re: Robos - breeding issues nearby - advice needed
It's not frustrating really I just had a minor panic at the week-end that I had nearly committed to adopting two boys without knowing if one of them was sexed right. So I had to say I thought it was a wait and see situation and send the sexing info to try and help them get it sorted.

I hope you manage to come out of this with at least one roborovski. How exciting!

Re: Robos - breeding issues nearby - advice needed
It sounds like they definitely don't know what they are doing. Too bad you can't go over there and sex them yourself. It's not that difficult. With them chasing the robos around I'm sure and taking out robos and then putting them back causes stress on the animal and if you adopt two of them the risk for a fall out is greater than coming from experienced people. I understand why you want to help but look at Angel for example, my 3rd robo,
She was chased around or dropped or who know what but I got her at 6 weeks and she was a terrified little thing. Only at the rescue for 2 days to before I adopted her. She hides and hides and hides.
If they are giving you a hard time now, they would probably fall out of the picture as soon as two of her robos are gone. Not to sound negative but I just don't want you getting something that you think would be cute and never ever seeing it and not even being able to give it a treat.
On the up side at least they aren't shipped around in trucks across the country like the pet store robos. There are lots of animals that need rescuing. I would think about what you want instead of having it in your mind that you have to have one of theirs.
No offense, I know what it's like when I get my mind fixed on something, Nobody else can change it. Wish you the best in your communications with these people and getting the robos you wish.

Re: Robos - breeding issues nearby - advice needed
Thank you Cinnamon Bear I'm just seeing what happens. Yes it is a bit difficult as I don't want to feel obliged to take one from them now, but do want to make sure they don't end up in a mess with loads of litters.
