We make most of our stuff from household items! You don't always need to buy things as they often prefer home made disposables! We use pringles tubes as tunnels and kichen ware as potties and also cardbord boxes to trash and as houses We have a thread on making your own hamster toys

I've ordered the cage but nothing else so far. Plenty of time really but want to get the main bits

I need to order the wheel and am torn between the wodent and the silent spinner.

Going to order some Fitch too nearer the time.

William (my son) has started putting aside little boxes and has already chosen the name (in fact the poor kid chose it last summer bless him) ... poor poor hamster.

We use megazorb though fitch can be used as a bedding / nesting. I personally find it jams up under the wheels or may just have naughty hamsters. You can get megazorb in horse bedding stockists.

Ah yes i used to use that in my rabbits litter trays. Huge huge bag though but lasts forever. In that case then what would i use as bedding? Just strips of toilet tissue?

I need to calm down ... the excitement is too much!! ...and i'm not even being sarcastic!

Strips of toilet tissue are the best thing for nests, you really don't need anything else for that.

It does get exciting lol! & hamster shopping can become addictive very quickly

So delivery 1 of Khaleesis new swag arrived today. In there was a new wheel for playpen ( which is still on order). I think maybe I should have got the smaller Trixie wheel - i got the 28cm one for a 12 week hamster haha. Oops. Its so big, poor thing will get lost in there. Lots of other goodies arrived today as well, with more to come on friday. Spoilt hamster
