Making Thread Issues
Hey, guys. One of my neighbors got a new hamster. They wanted to make an account on here, and they said that they did. They have tried to introduce themself on hamstercentral, but the thread still seems to have not been "approved" or whatever. They have also told me that they have made a new thread in hamster behaviour to ask questions about their new hamster.
Since their posts are not showing up, what should I tell them? I mean, I personally, can't even find their personal page etc. They can log-in and read posts, and "post" things but it says that they have to be checked by mods.
I remember this because this happened to me when I first joined. Although it wasn't still not letting me post new threads or replies without mods approval after a couple months of joining.
Any ideas on how to go about fixing this?
Thanks so much!

Re: Making Thread Issues
I'm not a mod but I believe it's something all new members need to go through when first joining. I too went through this for a few weeks before it allowed me to post freely so it's something everyone has to just wait out. There's really nothing you can do about it, and it takes a long time I'd assume because the mods need to read through each individual post to ensure it's appropriate to be placed. It may take a while for a mod to check your friends post so they'll probably just need to be patient and wait until someone gets around to it. I guess it's all for the safety of the members to prevent trolling and other such innapropriate things which I'm certainly glad we have such great mods for! Let them know to hang in there and that I give them an early welcome!

Re: Making Thread Issues
First posts have to be read & approved by a mod before they appear, the time it takes just depends on when mods are on & how much time they have, I'm sure the posts will be up soon.

Re: Making Thread Issues
There are sometimes glitches in the system and new posts do not show up for approval. Can you ask the neighbour to post again in introductions and we can watch for any posts? Posts do not show also unless the new member has verified their details and confirmed their email back. The forum software does run checks and younger persons who require for example parental permission due to COPPA protection will not be able post without approval.
There is current;y nothing pending we are aware of.
