Updates
Hey everyone, hope you and your hammies are all well!
I've got some sad news. Unfortunately, due to me moving out of the family home to somewhere I cannot keep pets, I am having to give away Bubblesky. She is just too big and requires too much attention for my parents to look after, and it would not be fair on them to ask them to do so. It literally breaks my heart to have to see her go. I have been a terrible hamster parent, having been in hospital most of her life, and she has barely had any time out of her detolf but is still as cuddly and lovely as ever. I am ensuring she will only go to the best home possible, with people I know will look after her. However, I will still miss her endlessly.
Another bit of sad news; Honeyfur is sick. Over the last couple of weeks, I noticed him clicking a lot when he breathes. My first thought was, as he is a very timid hamster, that he was just fearful and clicking to me as a warning to back off. But after some research I think he may have a respiratory problem. He is off to the vets tomorrow. Will let you all know how this goes.
Finally, some good news! I am, very luckily, going to be able to keep Honeyfur at my family home. He will stay with my parents who will look after him; they are happy to do so as he does not enjoy coming out of his tank or being handled, so they will do his food and water daily and I will clean him out and treat him when I am home!
Would love to hear updates from you guys and your hamsters!!
Thanks!

Re: Updates
I'm sorry to hear honeyfur is sick and that you'll have to give away a beloved little one. I don't think you're a bad ham parent, especially since you've been in the hospital a lot, and you recognize some mistakes and are now taking action. I hope things start looking up for you soon

Re: Updates
This must be so difficult for you, I'm sorry. But you're certainly not being a bad ham parent, giving away pets is hardly something to do lightly, so that shows you've given it proper thought. I hope your little one gets better!

Re: Updates
So sorry to hear you will have to find a new home for Bubblesky, it's a tough decision to have to make but we can't always predict how things will go.
Hope Honeyfur gets well soon, it does sound like a respiratory infection so fingers crossed some antibiotics will clear that up & he'll be fine.

Re: Updates
Sorry that you have to rehome one of your hamsters. Is it because she has to have out of cage time? If so perhaps they could keep her and just let her be an in the cage hamster. A detolf is a really good sized set up and I would be happy to keep a hamster in that without out of cage time.
If you do need to rehome her then I hope you find a lovely place for her.

I'm sorry to hear you're having to find a new home for Bubblesky, especially as it sounds like you haven't been very well at all I hope your house move will be the start of things looking up for you, even if you've had to make this tough decision for her.
I saw your rehoming post and you live very near where I grew up and where my family still live, but unfortunately I'm now London based and don't drive, so moving a Detolf would be impractical. However, I hope you find a fabulous new family for her - I'm sure you will.
