Re: 28 Days of February 2017
To be honest I can't remember! I know when it's tupping time they use different colours on the underside of each tup (ram) so it leaves colour on the back of the ewe - so they can see which ram tupped which ewe. I will ask OH to remind me

Sorry to hear that Charlie wasn't well yesterday evening. That video of Charlie trying out the flying saucer for the first time was really lovely to watch.
Also I really like the pictures of the sheep.

Re: 28 Days of February 2017
Day 8
Today is a video with photos. Photobucket is not my friend at the moment. It's a short video of little clips little boy made on his camera when we were first taming Charlie and giving him out of cage time, plus some photos added at the end. We joined them together and made a video on hamster toys for Syrian hamsters. It's one of my favourite videos because there are some nice shots of Charlie and because it was a time when little boy was - well little - and more interested in Charlie. He still loves Charlie but is a busy big boy now.

Photobucket can be a real pain sometimes but no matter the video is great!
Lovely to see Charlie exploring all his things again, I'd completely forgotten about the wellie boot

Watching charlie on his flyer saucer was really funny. The pic that your son shoot was lovely too.
I'm curious. Why do you mark the sheep? what does it mean? The family of my other half have thousands of sheep in their countryside house. They look so peaceful animals

Re: 28 Days of February 2017
Just getting back re the colour marking OH is also confused ha ha - because there shouldn't be a blue marking, they should all be red. So either the camera has done something weird or someone else's sheep got in the field! The long red mark is an identification mark for this farm - all farmers round here have their own identification mark.
Well spotted Coco! Looking at the photo again, the bit of blue isn't a long mark and may have been some kind of "spot on" for a sore or something.
The main reason for the identification mark is just for the local area - so if a sheep escapes and gets into someone else's field you can tell straight away, then the farmer rings up and you go and bring it back again. OH's fields go right down to the river in places, down a steep bank and occasionally a sheep will cross the river and end up on someone else's land.
OH just looked at the photo again - blue dot means it has been wormed

Re: 28 Days of February 2017
I had a feeling it was their identification mark. They really are curious creatures.
Loved the video, especially when Charlie ran into the wellington and then peeked out of it, that made me giggle, and in the bathtub trying to climb the side but getting nowhere - such a cheeky character and so bonnie hence me calling him Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Re: 28 Days of February 2017
Sometimes farmers mark the pregnant ewes after scanning to identify how many lambs they are expecting serendipity. Looks like a lovely area you live in .

Re: 28 Days of February 2017
Thank you Souffle - it is freezing cold here right now ha ha! Lovely when it's not icy cold. We're behind the times with things like scanning, but it's only a very small farm and Swaledales either have one or two lambs each - occasionally triplets. I think OH and his brother just guess lol.
