Question Speciality couriered from breeder?

Not sure where on the forum to put this, apologies if it's in the wrong place. To cut a long story short I'm looking for a syrian hamster. I am moving house so ideally one to take home after 10th February. I have already started a thread in the list of hamster breeders section to see if anyone knows of any Scottish breeders. I'm not holding my breath though as I suspect not .

So I wanted to find out the feasibility of having a hamster transported by speciality courier from a breeder elsewhere in the UK, probably England somewhere as that's where all the breeders seem to be. I have heard of people doing this but is it safe or even a good idea? If I can get a hammy from a good breeder, maybe even an HC one, I have no issues footing the cost of something like this. Obviously though I would need to know it's doable and safe for the hamster. If anyone has done this before or knows about it I would appriciate your thoughts and comments.

Indeed bit tricky. I would suggest that you email Tuftyfluffs, a reputable breeder near London, who could give you some advice: LINK REMOVED

While looking up hamsters in Scotland I came across this Story about a hamster out in a blizzard in Edinburgh. Clearly doing its own couriering! Anyway it was 3 years ago - glad it got rescued.

I did see that story about the hamster in the blizzard when I was poking about the internet! She must have been hiding somewhere warm because I can't imagine her being out in that blizzard for very long at all. At least she got somewhere safe though

I remember that story too, I can't believe it was 3 years ago? I'm just glad she was found and got rehomed.
This is an interesting thread Ruby, because should you find a breeder, I'll seriously think about getting one
for myself.

Are there any hamster shows in Scotland? Or if you were willing, travel to a Northern English show and meet up with a breeder or buy from the sales table.

Unfortunately, I haven't been in a similar situation as I have Tufty Fluff Hamsters in such close proximity to where I live.
