Might be worth having a read through some of the threads in the different species sections to get a better idea of what each one is like although of course they are all individuals there are some general species specific characteristics to consider.

I think the reason she keeps changing her mind is because she originally wanted a Syrian but sine she's having my ZZ1 she won't be able to get one. (Though I do know some people keep Syrians in them)

She's been researching about the different hamsters for a while however this will be her first ever hamster - though she did get to know Misty and Miranda really well.

We're hopefully going to visit a pet shop so she can meet a few different types of hamsters before she fully decides which species she wants. I know as soon as I see one I'm going to want to have another one, but I've banned myself from owning anymore until I'm fully over Misty's death. Hopefully she'll make up her mind soon!

That's always a good idea to go & look at the hams, especially if she can handle some it will give her a better idea of what they're like.

I'm sure you'll know when the time is right to get another ham yourself, it always takes me time to be ready for another if I lose one.
