A warm hello to all!

I have not been on HC for almost a year and a half, and a lot has changed in that time.

I lost two of my Syrians this year, Sponge and Pebbles, leaving only my long haired rescue Fluffy left. He is a gorgeous, fluffy character who often squeaks to me, especially if I do something that he doesn't like. Fluffy is a vocal little fluffball.

I love Fluffy to bits. He is my little boy after all. But after losing my previous two Syrians within 2 months of each other, I had a long, hard thought about hamsters. I cannot continue going through the heartache every 1.5-2.5 years. So it was with the decision that Fluffy will be my last ever hamster. I have been keeping these tiny animals for almost 30 years.

I am quitting. Again.

I guess that I won't be having the Chinese hamster that I want after all. But it does not matter. I have enjoyed every moment with my hamsters over the years, and I do not regret any of it.

But I could not go without some form of fluffy in my life.

But they are not hamsters.

I had two baby Guinea Pigs dumped on my doorstep four months ago. I am active on the Guinea Pig Forum. They are my bigger fluffies. They also live longer than hamsters, but they do require far more care than hamsters. I poo clean every day, for example. I adore them

Yes, Fluffy is my last hamster. I have quit once before, for five years, and I went back to owning hamsters.

Let's see how long I will go this time. Hamsters will always hold a dear place in my heart.

I'm sorry to hear you lost two hamsters, especially in such a short time frame.

It sounds like you have an amazing bond with Fluffy!

I love guinea pigs! I have my baby (I still call him baby despite being 5 and a half!) Oreo, who is the sweetest thing ever. They have a clever way of wheeking their way into your heart . I am also on The Guinea Pig Forum, but I only joined recently, after losing my pig Toffee.
