Default Pets at Home Christmas Pets Parcel

I've spotted this parcel online at P@H - it's £10 for a variety of Christmas themed toys, and I thought it might be a good gift for my Syrian, Inky.

Christmas Pets Parcel For Hamsters | Pets At Home

However, they say that the contents are a surprise. I don't like the idea of buying hamster things without knowing quite what I'm buying first, so has anyone got one this year and can give a review?

Thanks

I had contemplated buying one for my four Chineseys to share but like you say, without knowing the contents, I'm not sure if I'd get the use out of all of the items to justify buying one.

From the comments I've seen on Facebook about the Dog, Cat and Rabbit ones, they seem to go down quite well so it'll be interesting to see if there are going to be any reviews on the hamster one.

I'm probably going to get the hamster one and the guinea pig one, so Larry-Jasper and Oreo will just get whatever is suitable. I imagine that the box contents will probably be what is in the picture on the listing.

I have heard positive things about them though.

You'll have to let us know what you think Chesca.

Hmm, sounds like it might be decent. I'll try and pop down to my local branch and see if I can open the box (in a subtle sort of way!) before I part with money

I'm looking at this for Gordy & Derrick too. I need to pop to P@H on Saturday anyway so I'll take some photos of the contents if I can to share with you all

They are online only I believe, but you can pick them up in store or have it delivered.

I popped in earlier today, and discovered (as Chesca says!) that it is indeed online only. However, I've found this rather useful Instagram video: https://www.instagram.com/p/BMtrn92B...=_panda.monium

It looks like it contains:
Star Shaped Treat with Cranberry (£1 - it's like a funny shaped hanging treat stick...) http://www.petsathome.com/shop/Produ...&storeId=10151
Snowflake Hanging Trio (£2; basically a wooden chew toy) http://www.petsathome.com/webapp/wcs...e-hanging-trio
Soft Plush Reindeer Hamster House (£6) Pets at Home Christmas Soft Plush Reindeer Hamster House | Pets At Home
A wooden Christmas tree shaped chew. I can't see it on their website, but I suspect it retails for around £2 and it's functionally very similar to the snowflake hanging trio.
Pink cardboard tube - looks similar to this one (£1.50) http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pe...cardboard-tube
What looks like a Trixie Natural Living Ladder for Rodents (£5) http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pe...b-exclusive%29

All in all, it's about £16.50 worth of hamster items for £10, so not bad value (unless you have to pay for delivery, in which case the savings are essentially wiped out), but it's geared towards hamsters that love chewing more than anything else.

It's also worth noting that some of the items (or similar) are available cheaper elsewhere
e.g.
Similar reindeer bed - £3.99 at Hyperdrug http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/Boredom-B...FcsW0wodkmsD3Q
Same Trixie Ladder - £1.99 at ZooPlus http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_...FcIV0wodnjYNGQ

Most of the things are very useful and might be worth it.The reindeer house however adds a lot of the value, and since most hamsters would just chew even if it is only used in a playpen or for photoshoots or something like that(which is completely unsafe)it isn't really that good a value

My guinea pig adores the snowflake hanging trio, one of his current favourite toys .

I will be purchasing as I just share the toys between my piggie and Jasper. I'm also going to get the guinea pig version of the box.

Reindeer house could be used supervised or for photoshoots. Might be better for a rat or baby guinea pig though.
