Default Letting my hamster out on cold kitchen tiles

Hi,

I let my hamster out in the kitchen because it's the only room without exposed wires or anywhere to get lost. She seems fine running around playing with her toys and exploring. But my mum pointed out how cold the tiles are and says I shouldn't let her out like this.

The tiles ARE cold (I struggle walking on them bare feet) but my hammie comes out of the cage on her own and doesn't seem to mind. My mum needs some reassurance. Can hamster feet take cold surfaces?

Hey!

I have always let my hamsters run around on tiles or laminate flooring and they have all been fine. If you have a blanket then you could always put that down to give your Mum more reassurance but I don't think hamsters mind if I'm honest.

I think as long as the room is warm, the cold tiles are fine Of course your hammy might skid and slide about lol. You could always put a runner down or a mat temporarily as well and roll it up to go away again afterwards.

I'd be inclined to put something down on the floor, I use old sheets or duvet covers on the floor under my play pens, they don't seem to try to chew that which they may do with carpet or mats.

Thanks for the replies. I'll put down old bedsheets from now on
