Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
As Souffle said putting something down the hole will give him something to climb up/onto. Maybe cut an old tea towel into wide strips and tie them together and push that down.

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
Don't quit waiting as I had madame Godiva get in my walls and she was in them happily enjoying the huge critter trail called my plaster walls for 4 weeks. She eventually came out in a room I could catch her and she was perfectly fine. If you have water pipes in the walls he can easily get enough water to sustain him for many days as that was how Godiva survived.

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
Update:
Heard him all night near the hole, but couldn't see him and no trace on the flour that he came out.
I will now put something in the hole for him to grip on to.
I've just bought a female syrian (A friend was planning on getting one anyway, so she'll take her once he's hopefully found!)
Hoping her scent will lure him out!
It sounds as though he's managed to make a nest (I don't even want to think what out of) in the wall a few metres away from the hole.
Fingerscrossed he comes out tonight!

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
Hope he comes out soon! I know how worried you must be, but at least he is closer to the hole entrance. Also, it's a good thing that you are still hearing him move about.
Hopefully the female will do the trick!

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
No luck as of yet!
He was on the kitchen ceiling last night, so we've taken out a vent, and made a trap for him to fall in. He's still sounding quite active, so we're hoping he's got a good water supply.
Fingerscrossed!

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
Rub some of the lady hamsters wet bedding near the vent and around the hole. I'd be tempted to put some food up there so he has something to keep him going!

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
Souffle's idea of food is good. Maybe a bowl of water too?

Re: HELP! Hamster in the wall!
I'd definitely add some cucumber as food instead of a water bowl.
I hope he gets out soon!
I don't have any other suggestions apart from a bucket trap though. My hammy is a bit of a weirdo - he never tries to escape, even when I was on holiday (without my mum) and she left the cage open all night! AND it was a side opening cage door a couple of centimetres above the bedding lol.
