Aw poor Bobby. I'm glad he wasn't hurt although he might have been a bit upset! Just a thought maybe you could put a bendy bridge just there so he can get up on the shelf easier - and have the food bowl further back on the shelf

Awww, poor little guy. I feel bad that he fell but I must admit I did burst out laughing. Glad he wasn't hurt

Thing is, i do that anyway! I had to remove the ladder as he pulled that off and he drags his bowl from the back lol!

Silly hamster Charlie had a little yellow pot he used to move around as well. And he used to slide down the shelf in his potty lol. I don't think he intended to. The potty was in the corner and he's a bit lazy and liked to have a drink while he was sitting in it so would lean out to reach the water bottle, which kind of pulled the potty along a bit and the shelf was a savic one with a hump in the middle so the potty would end up sliding down the other side of the shelf lol.

Bendy bridges are great. You don't need a ladder then. You just bend it into a bridge and he can climb up it - they're quite stable. What I found even better was a cork log tunnel going partly under the shelf. It made a nice tunnel but a hamster can also climb over the outside up to the shelf. You kind of wedge it down into the substrate so it doesn't roll over and fits under the shelf
