Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
He would definitely be a hybrid,as he is a pet store hamster.

Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
LOL your little guy looks to be a pied Robo at first glance but the red eyes tell the tale that he is a Dove Mottled most likely Hybrid being from a pet store.

Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
Are hybrids terribly common in pet stores? (He's from a Petsmart in Ontario.) I thought Campbell's were the most common dwarfs sold, and anything labelled as a Winter White was likely to be a hybrid. This store just sells Campbell's, no WWs.

Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
All pet stores claim either Campbells or WW or just call them Russian Dwarf Hamsters but yes from a Petsmart he will be hybrid. Test for Diabetes and be sure to read up on proper diet for Hybrids to attempt to keep him healthy. No sugary foods at all and steer clear of high sugar Veggies. Hybrids can be quite cage territorial and could be why he is so nippy

Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
Interesting! I had thought that straight Campbells were common and hybrids not as much. I'd believe that Tinker is a hybrid, though. Among other differences, I've noticed that his ears are furry and much more rounded than Koosh's.
I've been very careful to steer clear of diabetes-inducing diets! I'm happy to say Tinker is a healthy little man, except for running on his wheel so constantly he gives himself occasional tiny sores (I take the wheel away when that happens). I wish I could say he is just cage territorial but unfortunately he's a chomper no matter where he is, lol. Never seems to miss an opportunity to sink his little teeth into me! I feel like a failure as a hamster mother, but I usually use mini gloves to handle him, since his bites are painful and he's drawn blood a couple of times. I love him anyway, the little booger, but he doesn't love me!

Re: Campbell's or hybrid?
Any Russian (hybrid, campbells or winter white) hamster that didn't come with a pedigree, should be treated as a hybrid by being given a low-sugar diet and being tested for diabetes.
You can only get pedigrees through breeders (as far as I am aware) so I would just think of him as a hybrid.
Hope this helps
