Default Sister found a lost hamster

My sister says she chased a lost hamster around a car park until she could catch it, gender for now is unknown and she says the colour is beige/ginger. Seems to be a very friendly little thing and is a little skinny, suggesting its been lost for a while now. Her friend currently has the hamster, pictures to follow. They want to find the owner as her friend has cats.

Oxford House car park, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. If anyone knows anything about this lost hamster please PM me, I will get you in to contact with who is looking after it so you can pick it up.

Lucky hamster that your sister caught her! I suppose she may have travelled quite a long way before ending up in the car park (the hamster I mean). I'd suggest your sister ring the local radio station and ask them to announce it on the local news - most likely way to reach a hammy owner who has lost their hamster. But it may just be a case of someone having released the hammy into the wild.

Good on your sister catching the hamster, the wee soul must've been scared out in the open. Good on hee friend taking it in temporarily.
I really hope it isn't someone wanting rid and let it out on purpose.

Update: This hamster's fur and teeth are not in a good state, its also thin which suggests its been outside for a long while or wasn't looked after properly. I'll let you all know when I know more, and I'll put pictures up when there are some to share.

Aw poor wee hammie. Sounds like he/she needs feeding up a bit and some supplements or soft food until a vet can check the teeth. Probably having difficulty eating. Hammy must be a survivor though. Can your sister's friend keep him for a while but keep him in a different room from the cats?

Poor hammie--how lucky your sister found it! I hope, whether or not you are able to find its original home, it lives out the rest of its life happy, healthy and loved in a fantastic home.

Have you tried posting it on facebook and getting people to share? And posting it on local facebook groups. I know a lot of people who have lost animals will go on facebook first.
Also notify all the local vets to let them know you have a stray hamster, hopefully the owners may have contacted vets to let them know they've lost their hamster or to find out if it has been handed in as a stray.

A very lucky hamster to have survived. Feed the poor hammy up but may need to go to the vets for a check over.

Hopefully you do find the owner, keep us updated!

Sad though it seems sometimes these are hammies that have been thought to have passed away and have either been put out in the waste bin or buried and have dug out so owners may not be looking for them. I'd post on social media through local pages and see if anyone knows the hammy. Hope it rallies round after some TLC

Its facebook where she posted about the hamster, I still have no further updates on it though, other than the hamster has now gone to her friend's mum. I did suggest food for the poor thing to make it gain weight, I've poked my sister today to give updates.

If I lived back in England I'd take the fluffball on myself if their owner doesn't come forward. Will let them know to post through media and call the vets. Think there's about two vets in Wellingborough, the more commonly used one is near the town centre.

Let you guys know soon as I know anything, thank you for the suggestions!

So just remembered I had this thread, poked my sister today to ask about the lost hamster. Turns out the lost hamster was male, escaped from his cage and got another hamster pregnant. He then passed away either due to his previous hard life or age its unknown, but he left a legacy behind and all the babies were re-homed when old enough.
