Re: Meet Fig
Does she just do it with the tissue or when you put anything else like food in or change her water?
If it's just the tissue she could be finding it a bit scary (hard to know sometimes what or why something scares them!) if it's more general she could be getting a little territorial & protective of her space.

Re: Meet Fig
It might be best to add things like the tissue when she's asleep She is probably seeing anything entering her cage as a scary predator (especially a hand!). But when they "find" things in the cage I reckon they like this as it's like foraging. She may well have had a trauma of some kind in the past before you got her, so it sounds like taking things slowly with taming and handling is best. Keep talking to her. Did someone mention the tissue trick already?
If not - put a few sheets of plain white toilet paper up your sleeve for a few hours, then tear each sheet into strips and put the pile of torn up paper somewhere in the cage (when she's asleep). When she takes it to build her nest with it will help her get used to your scent.

Re: Meet Fig
It does sound as though she's getting a bit territorial now! It's probably best to stick to doing things in the cage while she sleeps, that may improve when she has a new cage although some do tend to stay like that & interact better out of the cage or will come to you at the cage door as long as you don't invade their space too much!

Re: Meet Fig
Put the tissue in by poking it through the bars (rather than opening the cage door/lid) along way from the nest. It may get less of a reaction.
