Bank holiday surprise
So...this happened. With ears like Batfink I introduce to you this little fella..... I'll do a proper thread for him when I name him.
I'd seen him a couple of weeks before in the pet shop and was very taken with his colouring and he seemed quite cheeky. When I went in on Monday he was still there and the ears were up so how I could not bring him home?! Well, what better way spend a bank holiday?

Awww velma that is just too much cute lol! Those ears are just so adorable, no wonder you had to bring the little guy home, what a wonderful way to spend a bank holiday indeed!
Congrats on such a lovely new addition

Re: Bank holiday surprise
Thanks Cypher. I haven't been specifically looking but the heart wants what the heart wants and as I had all the stuff anyway...
Soufflé, part of me hopes he doesn't - I love his massive ears As he's a pet shop hodge podge he also doesn't have a very good face by Ham standards, he's kind of mousey looking with his slightly pointy snout and big ears but I like the mousey look - think it's why I fell in love with him and why I also love Chineseys

Re: Bank holiday surprise
Aaaw look at him.
I remember looking at Jess not long after bringing her home and noticing her hears and hoping she'd grow into them - she never did but they seem to add to her charm now.
Sometimes I'll call her 'My little bat ears' when she's sat up in her hammock and all I can see are her ears sticking up.
I can't wait to hear more about your new lad.

Re: Bank holiday surprise
I'm resisting Batfink as a name so far but it seems to be sticking.... He still hasn't named himself yet but he's coming out of shell a bit now so I can get to know him and hopefully find a name. He was the boldest cheeky chappie in p@h and then really withdrew for the first few days of being home. Not so brave as he thought he was. But I've got him in a "too small" tank for this week while he gets his brave back and then I'll upgrade him. Which seems to have worked well. He'll go in Lewis's duna multy now Lewis is in a mini duna (I'll update his thread about that one soon).
"batfink" basically is like most of my cooking - a bit of everything thrown in! He's a chocolatey brown but slightly lighter round the eyes like the sables are but there's a gingery tinge to the brown, stronger in some places so he looks likes he's going rusty. And his underneath and lower fave are a very pale grey. So I think the official name for his colouring is a "beautiful hodge podge"

Re: Bank holiday surprise
Lol Velma the batfink cook! You could call him Hodge.
So is he a dwarf ham?
