Re: Photo Month Thread - September
This afternoon has been a Chinesey one I've started pairing up my planned Chinese pairs and so far so good.
Liessa and Lio!rt by Vectis Hamstery, on Flickr
Saffran (who was born here in the Hillbard litter and is back on loan from Doric Hams) and Verence have been the squeakiest. They've been paired before with no success so I'm crossing everything this time.

This is my usual set up for pairing Chineseys - a carrier/small tank with two piles of bedding, two tubes, 2 bits of cucumber and a big heap of food. I've chosen medium sized tanks for pairing this time which gives me flexibility depending on how things go. If all stays quiet tonight, I can put them in a small bin cage tomorrow.

Both Appley and Saffran are dominant spots from black-eyed white lines. You can work out what the pairs will have using this page: http://vectishams.webs.com/chinesehamstergenetics.htm

In case you were wondering about the hamster names, I use naming themes. My black-eyed whites/carriers are named for places on the Isle of Wight and my normals are named after characters from the Discworld books. These are my current Chineseys:
Isle of Wight names
Appley, Firestone, Hillway, Kingston, Mottistone, Ninham, Niton, Parkhurst, Rylstone
Discworld names
Chair of Indefinite Studies (Indy), Chair of Oblique Frogs (Froggie), C W StJ Nobby Nobbs (Nobby), Herrena the Henna-Haired Harridan, King Verence, Liessa Dragonlady, Lillith, Lio!rt Wyrmbidder, Perdita X, Winford
Non-Themed names
Origami, Papyrus, Sumtin

I love the names you use for your hamsters.

He says sorry, the excitement of seeing everyone got to him a bit and made him forget his manners. He says to tell the rest of his family that he loves them very much too.

Your hamster room really is impressive, I'm quite envious!
All the Chineseys are looking totally adorable as ever, good luck with the pairings, hope all goes well & some lovely litters are soon on the way.

Lovely start to September So many hammies! I'm impressed with the Hamster room too. Looking forward to hearing more about future babies and mating successes and hearing more about Doops.

Re: Photo Month Thread - September
Doops always remind me of robos too!
The furries and I have had a chilled out day, and all the pairs are still together. I was going to start pairing some Syrians but instead played hunt the hamster. Currently the score is Georgic 1, me 0, but I think I've located where he is and hopefully he'll fall for the relocated trap. Time for a cuppa...

Today's a Syrian hammy day . I've got a few golden oldies, with my oldest being dear Cedders (officially Cedric).

He's never become a dad which is a shame, but I have a major soft spot for him! He turned 2 a few months ago and looks rather disreputable, but I think his lion hair do looks very stylish

Gallica will be two shortly and is finally slowing down a bit. She's been a very active girl and didn't take to motherhood, having only 2 pups and losing one at 13 days old. Her daughter Tayleur is beautiful but hasn't herself taken to being a mum and has produced no surviving pups.

Some of my younger Syrians now. I do love Delphic. He's not the yellowest yellow, in fact it takes a lot of looking to see his markings! He's been a great first step towards making dark grey ivory as he carries dark grey. He's a smooshy lad.

Hippo is a chilled out yellow dom spot lad. He mostly snoozes and eats!

My Syrian hamster names are:
White Star Line Ships (dark grey/dg carriers)
Arabia, Cedric, Delphic, Gallica, Georgic, Majestic, Naronia, Regina, Suevia, Tauric, Tayleur,
Mythical Beasts (cinnamon/cinnie carriers
Hippogriff, Phoenix, Sphynx
Unthemed names
Jude, Molly, Valegra, Tiny Tim

The Doops are so beautiful.
Your syrians are so fluffy, Cedric really does look like a lion especially that 2nd pic.

Re: Photo Month Thread - September
What a lovely bunch! Ceddars really is an adorable older man, I can see why you would have a major soft spot for him!
What's the score with Georgic now, is he still winning!
