Default How to tire her out?

Hi everyone! So, Miranda has become a lot more active lately and I'm currently looking into buying a bigger cage (She's currently in the Alaska cage) but we wont be able to get it until Christmas so until then I was wondering how to tire her out because she's always so active. Would using the bathtub as a playpen be a good idea? If so, how would I get her used to it and how long should she be allowed in there for? Thank you

Why do you want to tire her out?

If she's an active hammy she's an active hammy, it's a good sign and a sign of health!

Is Mirands the Syrian or the Dwarf? (Can't remember LOL) Reason I'm asking is because she could use a hamster ball maybe, but I know some people do not recommend them for Dwarf hamsters

You could try a free range solid sided playpen on the floor and just open the cage door but put a bendy bridge over the door so she has access in and out! With that method as long as she is drinking as needed she can be out as long as she wants, plus it means that she has a choice in the matter unlike hamster balls and even playpens to some extent.

Of course,a playpen or bathtub is the only other option I could recommend if free ranging just isn't an option.

I would let her out in my room but it's carpet so I'm worried about her chewing it and my rooms a box room so It's not that big anyway.. I can't let her out anywhere else because we have house cats. I'm probably just going to start letting her in the bath tub for a while each night.

The reason I want to tire her out is because she's soo active all the time and she's started bar chewing I've ordered a few new toys and a hamster ball for her, but with the cats she's probably not going to be out in the ball very often.
Also, Miranda's a Syrian

Thanks couldn't remember LOL

You can weave some cardboard through the bars where she is chewing to try and stop it. Though if she's anything like Sweep she might pull it through and use it in her nest! Hahaha. You could try rearranging things in the cage too maybe ... Also, have you tried scatter feeding? Might keep her mind off it (Sweep says it's very fun! )

Her cage gets changed around when it's cleaned out (So about one a month) I'm still trying to figure out what her favorite type of toys are, she doesn't seem to like tubes as much as Misty. I scatter half of her food and half goes in her bowl I did try to put cardboard through the bars and she pulled it out with in minutes, hehe.

Maybe you could add hammocks and some tubes or some platforms to the top of her cage so that she has places to climb about.
