Thoughts on forest cage theme?
I'm currently setting up a forest theme for Cookie's cage, and I thought I'd do I little photoshoot so that you could all see, and give me an opinion on the items I've picked out so far!

Re: Thoughts on forest cage theme?
The theme itself is a great idea! However, the bridge and trees aren't really healthy items and should not be in the cage or to be completely honest used at all. There are a ton of healthier toys out there that are more natural and completely fine, while the ones that are edible shapes and even for example the ecotrition snak shak logs tend to have a lot of unhealthy things such as honey and artificial colors as well as wood shavings in them which for hamsters with allergies to wood is a very big problem.Stick to natural wood toys, they're much safer and healthier!
Also aside from wood, reptile resin items and fish items can be good as well. You might be able to find some really interesting ceramic pieces too from thrift stores and such,so definitely keep an eye out for those as well!

We have that bridge and a tree! Sweep ignores them LOL. They don't have honey in - I just checked!
Love the theme!

Thanks for the advice- I may just keep the bridge and trees from time to time, and she really does love running around and over the bridge
Also, you can't really see on the picture, but I have a little canoe that is meant for fish tanks coming out from under the bridge
Also, she doesn't really seem to be gnawing on the bridge and trees- in the image she is eating carrot, but it kind of matches the colour of the bridge haha

Thanks! When I first got him he was more grey than he is now and his favorite hobby was digging so Sweep suited him well!
In regards to the bridge and trees, Sweep has his tree in his cage all the time. He currently doesn't have room for the bridge LOL. He also has a cube that is made of the same sort of things which is his favorite toy so it's in his cage all the time - or else! LOL He ignores the tree but I think it's ok to keep them in all the time!

Cookie was exactly the same! When I first got her she was very grey, but now she's more of an ashy brown!
Cookie also seems to love the trees, so I may just keep them in all the time

Re: Thoughts on forest cage theme?
If Cookie starts eating the trees/bridge a lot in one go. Then maybe take them out for a while.
