Default Please show me your hamster house/levels

I'm after something that can be used as somewhere to hide/nest under (or in) but also double up as a level to climb on top of. Please show me yours !
(It's for a dwarf hammie in a Alaska cage )
Thanks

How about an Ikea Knuff magazine file? One of my chinese hamsters has one that has one of her wheels on the top and her nest underneath.

Here's the tutorial that a member here wrote a few years ago: Project IKEA - Platform/Level

I made mine out of a piece of wood and apple wood sticks for the fence.

Not sure why my pic is sideways though!!!

It's a great idea! I've always used a flat roof house for a nesting box/level. I had a large guinea pig house (for a Syrian), then an even larger one with a lift off roof, and then splashed out and bought one of the Labyrinth houses from Rodipet. Enner ham on here made her own labyrinth house out of two tisses boxes with door holes cut in and a piece cardboard for a roof The one thing I have found great though is a house with a lift-off roof - whether wood, cardboard or whatever. It means you can check inside without the nest falling apart, and just leave the house in place. It's also good if the house is big enough to have a potty litter tray inside as they seem to like having that nearby (makes sense really - ensuite toilet). But i believe dwarf toilet habits aren't the same as Syrians sometimes The Knuff idea is great! If you don't go with that there is the Trixie Leif Labyrinth house which is a good size for a dwarf hamster and has a lift off roof and a front and top entrance hole.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-6201...xie+Leif+house

This is Charlie's current house/shelf (huge - he is a big Syrian, but Rodipet also make a dwarf sized version). The house is on the right of the cage

This was the original version of flat roof house/shelf in his smaller cage (about the same size as the Alaska but a bit lower) - I also had a lava ledge at the back of it as another little shelf to sit under, which filled the gap between where the house roof ended and the side of the cage. (The lava ledge is the purple thing in the background on the right).

I am guessing you are thinking the same thing that I did with the smaller cage - ie get rid of the plastic platform and use a house roof as a shelf

I think either the Knuff idea or the Leif labyrinth house would work well in the Alaska.

These are the rodipet labyrinth houses but they're a bit expensive. They work out between £15 and £22 ish depending which one it is, plus about £7 postage. (Various different sizes for Robo, Dwarf hamster or Syrian)

I think Cypher found the Getzoo one was better for a dwarf hammy. I really like the layout and ramp in that one. Similar price and postage (if you convert the euros).

Rodipet also make good ordinary houses with lift off flat roofs as well, that have 2 or 3 rooms so they can nest, hoard and pee in different places. The room thing seems to work.

Or make one out of cardboard boxes (I might do that next time). I love Kiki's platform! (And the Knuff one!)

There are some more Knuff platform creations here (some 2 tier ones as well).

I used to have one of those, it was pretty good Unfortunately even with all the plastikote in the world, hamster pee did eventually get through it and it had to be thrown away!

My hams now sleep in cardboard boxes (fun to chew and easy to replace), or under bendy bridges/log tunnel things, or under the shelves that came with their cage (in the case of the two that are currently in Alaskas).

I wondered about pee in those Although the one on the tutorial has the bottom taken out so it can sit on the substrate.

Yeah, but the Robos I used it will still peed under it, in one of the back corners. Eventually it seeped into the sides

Urgh! I guess I'm lucky that Charlie is so tidy lol. He only pees in his potty and never sprays lol.

I cheated! I bought a magazine file (I think they're called - desk tidy things) from hobby craft and turned it on its side.
